What is going to happen in the future, are we going to have a playstation 5 which is 1024 bits and you control on screen characters with your mind. There is going to become a point where you just cant improve one machine. Does that mean that console manufacturers are going to go out of business but games manufacturers become more profitable, no because i think that these console manufacturers will make certain adjustments to games so that the buyer will need to either buy a new machine or an addon for the console, even though the console has the ability to run the game. This is like what nintendo have done with the expansion pack.
And i also think that soon there will be no differences between the portable gameboy type machines and consoles because technology will have advanced so much that the consoles will be tiny and will have there own little screen but it can also be connected to a television.

Couldn't agree more, Mr. Gronti. Consoles, as far as I'm concerned, will never really last because of their limited scope. When something can only do one thing (i.e. play games) but the technology involved is capable of much more, it's inevitably going to become obsolete. The future lies in a computer which lets you play console-quality games, with the extra depth that many PC titles have, as well as being able to write a business letter and do your accounts afterwards.

Well you never know. However, it is likely that before that happens either new kinds of console will be invented (The x-box is a step towards this one) or all consoles will cease to exist and gaming will be done on PCs. Really Consoles are only for home multiplayer and quick single player gaming anyway, you generally don't spend a long time at one level (like you would in a strategy game) on console games whereas PCs tend to have games that can be played for hours or only 30 minutes, though most of the time not too much shorter because it takes a while to start up the computer anyway and often you want to go to "just this next bit" which seems to take longer than you thought. I own a PC and a Console and i use them for these purposes but if i had to choose one to keep it would be the PC because it has a better future and has overall better games (although that's not to say all games are good for the PC, not even big games, Ultima9 anyone?). So the future does not lie with consoles, because eventually they will either be replaced or totally forgotten and since the PC is already availiable it's likely to be forgotten. One day of course, the PC will probably be replaced, but it is likely to be a variation on the PC that replaces it, that's some way off and it's hard to imagine what it'll be, give me a call in 20 years and tell me.
