Why do children of the age of like 10 need mobile phones??
I have had a mobile for about a year and usede it when i was at school.
However, what does a child of 9 need a phone for?
Really you don't need a phone till your 14 or so and have more school work and may be late.
I know i would never need a phone at the age of 9.
There is evidence that mobile phones can produce radiation that can be damaging to you brain. The origional phone i had gave me a headache when i used it.
Young kids won't be buying their phones. Their parents will. The kids then spend loads of time talking on their mobiles racking up huge bills for the parents to pay.
as a child you should spend time with freinds, rather than phoning them and texting them.
Personally i get really annoyed when i see young kids with phones. Its even worse when they have a better phone than you.
No phones until the age of 14 or so.
It really is pointless giveing kids phones. It shows they are spoilt.
At the age of 9 i would have never been given a phone as a present.
Ah well
Does anyone feel the same about this?
And apparently a lot of people are left slightly embarassed over the amount they spent on the licences, but people will still by the phones, as you ALWAYS get people who want th elatest thing.
There's been quite a lot of fuss amongst phone retailers about the market 'drying up', now that the majority of the public already have mobile phones, and of those, few see the need to constantly upgrade theirs.
I see yor point about drinking the vodka in one go, or spread over a week.
The fact is, with microwaves, the liquid in your brain heats up, and causes irrevisble damage to the cells around it. Not the waves themselves, but the heat they create.
As for the government not getting any money from mobile phones, how about the £25 BILLION they got just last year for selling off the third generation phone licences?
Bearing in mind they reckon that there'll be a new generation every 3 or so years, that's an averag of over £8 BILLION every year. Something that's not to be sniffed at...

But texting is immature and annoying.
"Hi m8, how r u? going out 2night? i hope so, or we can go 2moz."
Grrrrrr....

It took the longest phone 20 mins to cook an egg.

Compare that to the 20 mins
> to cook an egg.
You cant... 20 minutes continuous is completly different to 10 minutes per day on a human...
Its like saying that If I drank a bottle of Vodka in one go it would damage my liver... and that if I therefore drank the bottle over a week that it would cause the same damage?
Whatever an "official" results tell us (look at

There has been quite a bit of independant research... though I tend to find results of both favour the funding companie... pro-phone research claims it is very safe, anti-mobil claims that it will kill you to dial a number...
As I think I've already said, I think it'll be like

Still... smoking provides the goverment with a LOT of cash... phones provide the goverment with nothing... (excpt potential PR?)
It depends on the

True, but all that does is alternate between giving out microwaves and letting the food cool in it's own heat.
I'm not sure how much yopu know about this, so I'll start with the basics (I'm not taking the mick, just making sure).
Microwave ovens work by heating up the water in the food. The water that is boiling then cooks the food. That's why when you cook food in the microwave it normally tells you to let it stand for a few minutes when it's finished in the oven.
Microwaves cook faster than normal ovens as the microwaves themselves can pass through most stuff. Everything that you'd want to cook, certainly. Because of this they can start heating the water within the food, as well as at the surface of the food, making them cook quicker than in a conventional oven.
Ok, so far and nothing to do with phones.
Except phones use the same waves to transmit you calls/text messages as the oven does to cook your food. But on a much lower scale. Typically 1000 Watts for an oven, and in the region of 1/4 (I think) of a watt for a phone.
Now. 1/4 of a watt doesn't sound *that* much. But, on tests done about a year ago, eggs were cracked opver mobile phones, and the phones continuously transmitted until the eggs were cooked.

Now, think about Joe Bloggs, who uses his phone for 10 mins a day. And a skull is certainly more dense than an egg. Using the times I worked out in a previous post, if someone uses their phone for 10 mins a day, for 50 years, they will have had 182,500 minutes of phone time, right next to their head.
Compare that to the 20 mins to cook an egg.
Whatever an "official" results tell us (look at "official" inquiries into cigarettes in the 70's to see how crap they can be), I personally feel that using a mobile phone regularly CAN'T do you any good.
Simple as that.
And as for whether kids "need" a phone, well, that's just personal opinion and so can be argued indefinately. So I won't start on that one.
As I think I've already said, I think it'll be like smoking. It'll be years before any offical, hard evidence tells us *exactly* what the effects of using a phone can be, and by then it may be too late.
Also, it may well be that some people use their phone for an hour a day for 40 years and have no problems, others may use it for 10 mins a day for 10 years, and have all sorts of problems.
I personally feel that I'd rather not take that risk and so, even though I own a mobile phone, use it infrequently, and for short periods of time.
Er, yes it

Something bad, like

It depends on the strenth of the Microwaves being pumped out...
Even 100 watt microwaves have settings (defrost, warm, full power, etc.. which shove out differernt amounts at a time)
Perhaps. I suspect it'll be like smoking.

Id have thought there was a negligable risk for high level users... and pretty much none for casual/standard phone users... Especially given the amount of Texting that is going on...
True. And it WOULD be made

and? ... If thats the case, why wasnt alcahole made illegal when cannabis was?
Well, microwaves are stopped by lead. So if they

lol... no, some British inventor has come up with a cheap lightweight filter thingy that removes the majoity of microwaves pumped out

lol... its not quite the same thing :)
Er, yes it is. If a 100w Microwave overn cooks a rock solid potato in 7 minutes, what is a half watt phone going to do to you over 365,000 minutes?
Something bad, like cancer.
Not really? .. why does it

Perhaps. I suspect it'll be like smoking. Some people will use a phone for hours each day and have no problems, others will get cancer. It'll be the luck of the draw, to an extent.
If some bloke discovered how to ferment beer, then it would be legal

True. And it WOULD be made illegal. Look at all the harm alchohol causes compared to something like cannbis...
I understood that there were ways of

Well, microwaves are stopped by lead. So if they start starpping pieces of lead to the phone, then that may help...
