Got my replacement dance mat today (free on reddies).
After testing on a playstation to confirm things, the first one was broken, delaying the whole experiment.

Wired the dance mat to the joybox (which lets you use ps2 pads for gamecube), the joybox to the gamecube, and got everything going.

They call it a joy box. It didn't bring me any joy.
They say it's a dance mat. I wasn't dancing.

The whole gig, the dream of playing burnout, tetris and tony hawks with the mat, it's all fallen apart.

The cube didn't accept the pad. Just asked for a valid pad to be put in or gave no response.
I tried sonic 2 (mega collection), to see if the mat could control tails. No joy (or dancing).

The dream is over.

The box seems to indicate that you can, and the mat has the d-pad, 4 main buttons, start and select, which should be enough to at least play some games reasonably.

Still, if the cube wasn't having any of it I'm not sure the PS2 will either.
I'm supposed to be getting a PS2 soon (though if it doesn't arrive tomorrow the company are in breach of contract for taking over EIGHT weeks, barstubs), so I'll get the chance to try it out. That said, I don't see myself getting many games for it with the cube's line up...

Shame though, I really wanted to play monkey ball like the monkeys do...

That would have been a bit confusing, I imagine, but fun to play around with. Shame it didn't work.

Your legs would fall off attempting to do combo's on Tony Hawks.

Shame, that could have been hilarious if it worked.

A 4 player game of Mario Kart, see who can boogie their way to victory.
