Yes, Im talking about Microsoft's X-Box.

We are beginning to hear the distant rumblings of it's approach to European shores.
Doesn't sound to threatning though, but you have to admit, when it reaches this big continent of ours, IT WILL be loud!

After all It is Microsoft we are talking about here. The worlds leading company powerhouse, that expects to achieve dominance in every market of entertainment it enter's into.
However they dont have as much a smug attitude as Sony did back in 1995.
But something is problematic here, you see public opinion for the X-Box doesn't look too good.

Ask most people, they would usually have the same sort of answer being: "Nah, don't want it!" or "It's games are too much like PC which I don't like"
Very true in some repect, or could it be entirely false?
However I do feel Microsoft, both in America and Europe will not have a comfortable ride, regardless how much they spend on advertising or other way's to entice the gamer.
You know, we heard all of the same murmerings before. You only have to look at the Atari Jaguar and Panasonic 3DO to see the similarities to Microsoft's console.
Similarites such as a Huge amount of game's and a large amount that failed to grab anybody's interest among few that did.
For the X Box gaming greats could be The Lord of the Rings, Halo and......geez what else? Not just my opinion though, but the opinion of many.
Microsoft, from opinions, have a LOT to prove.
But could I be wrong?

X-Box is big. Very big in fact. About the size of your average video, or put it this way - 'Two' (Yes two) PS2 sitting next to each other and probably bigger still!!.

Xbox seems to be a lot bigger and a lot more talented than the first console released by Atari, or someother weird company. I believe it will literally storm the world with its power, yet if they cant design any good games for it then it will literally fall down the pits in to a big, nicely dug grave. Next to Bill Gates'.

Mony of the gamesplayers in my class at school are looking forward to the Xbox. Some of them are happy PC owners, others see the PS2 as a mess and the Gamecube as a kiddies machine (one of the ones who fall into this catagory loves Mario Kart on the GBA :-D).

I think it's got a market.
It won't be the Playstation style dominator that Microsoft wanted but it should keep the Windows cleaners in profit.

It might be. I do know some people who look forward to it because they see the potential it has partly for games but also as a scaled down PC. If it plays DVDs and you don't have a DVD player well excellent. It connects to the net. It is even more next gen than the PS2 or GC. It has all this promise of headsets letting you communicate with pit crews in games. With people on the other side of the world racing you. Now that to me is exciting sounding. But not enough of gamings biggest market, children, know about it. If Microsoft get the message and the promise of it out and into the world good and proper, then it might succeed. But it might not defeat the PS2 dominance, I don't think it will in fact. But once they are out there an X-box 2 in 5 years might wion the battle of the living room. But as usual the only thing that will show is time. It might succeed in the US and fail everywhere else. "time, ain't nothin' but time, it's a verse with no rhyme..."
