Anyone remember IBM's speak freely software for the PC? well i had an early version of this and it was pants, out of about 50 words it got about one right, You speak to your computer and it translates it into words, apparantly future PS2 titles with have similar software included except technolgy has improved dramitically in this area and can tell if your being sarcastic, serious or scared.

With a USB microphone you will soon be able to talk to your opponants or allies, The first game to use this (i think) is Socom navy seals where you play a seal oviously and can communicate with other seals through speech, Sounds promising even Hideo Kojima is looking into it :-)

It certainly sounds promising but think about the time when the computer doesnt recognise what you are saying...You may get killed at the very end of the mission just because you say something unclearly in the excitement of it all. THis is why I am very suspicious of the idea.
The voice recognition on the PC isnt exactly the most accurate of things you will see but it can do the job well. THis is why I kinda think that the SOCOM game will have a set number of phrases or words that you can use. But again you may not be able to say something like :"Attack you BERK". Or "Kill the F'in bas ards".
