You should see inside Lord Jabu-Jabu's Belly on the Master Quest.
It's full of cows for a reason I can't find. There are cows sticking out of his flesh, cows all over the place. And if you shoot them they act as switches.

Not exactly amazing are they ? Even so whose to say that AR is the only way to access them ? It seems bizarre that any developer would leave in something which could not be accessed, and it's not like Zelda has been a rush job.
