You will need a step-down converter, a NTSC to PAL converter, and an AV lead. Or if your TV excepts S-video then get this lead as it will give you a better quality picture. The 2 pin plug of the GameCube main adapter plugs into the step-down converter and then this converter plugs into the mains. The NTSC - PAL converter goes into the back of your TV, and into the mains. The AV lead connects to the NTSC - PAL converter (which has the connections for Audio R & L and Video) and then goes into the back of the GameCube.

This is the way I have done it with my Japanese GameCube and the picture is absolutely wonderful. This is just with an AV lead as well! My TV is S-Video compatible so I will be getting one of these leads shortly.

If you are going to import a console and planning on getting a new TV for some reason, then I would seriously consider getting a NTSC compatible TV. Quite a few of the new TV's have this feature. This way you can do away with the NTSC - PAL converter.

I hope this information helps you.

There are supposed to be 700,000 GameCubes available on launch day and then another 300,000 before Christmas (I've heard that Nintendo have given retailers permission to sell the GameCube on the 15th). Some small stores have already started to sell the consoles. Getting a GameCube imported will not be too much of a problem. I pre-ordered my US GameCube package from Hawaii about a month ago now. The Jet black console w/ 1 controler, Luigi's Mansion, Waverace BS, Star Wars RL 2 and a memory card for $400. A lot of mail-order websites in the US will only send within the US and maybe Canada. You could by one from www.ebay.com or an import shop in the UK, but expect to pay a high price. You could easily get a Japanese GC for pretty cheap and then get it modified to play both regions for £30 at www.ravengames.co.uk

Worth considering.
