Having painfully completed and uploaded an amatuer site using FTP (domain purchased & hosted by freeola) my hard drive collapsed and I have lost the whole site, together with passwords etc.
I know I should have made a back up but my site is now live and I cannot get it back to update it. Any ideas - can you download it back using FTP and how do I get my passwords back?

You need to copy all the files, not just the webpage. Absolutley everything in the webspace will have to be copied down using FTP.

I have now downloaded Internet 6 and tried this method. Doesn't seem to work very well at the moment as all it keeps doing is downloading my frame-set.

I will persevere for a bit and also follow Bob's advice and ring Freeola to see if they will give me my passwords. Then hopefully I could use FTP.

Thanks for all your help

Bob

Thanks for your assistance. I did e-mail freeola support, they e-mailed me back to say get a newer version of Internet explorer and copy it back - didn't say I could have my passwords though!

I will telephone them tomorrow as I will still need my passwords to re-upload!

No I do not have details of my e-mail account unfortunately. Freeola support told me to download via internet explorer 5.5 which I do not have.

Take your point on copying the source code - will try this when all else fails! I will try freeola support again for mail ID as I foresee problems in re-uploading.

Thanks for your assistance!

You are able to download your site back down to your Computer.

Have you still got access to your E-mail Acount??? If So, your SR ID will be in your mail program, so if you E-mail Freeola ([email protected]) and tell them of your situation, the should be able to help you.

Alternativly, you could just goto your site and copy all the images and view the source and save it back to your file, but try method 1 first :o).

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
Just a quick note to say thanks for a very good service ... in fact excellent service..
I am very happy with your customer service and speed and quality of my broadband connection .. keep up the good work . and a good new year to all of you at freeola.
