Yeah, ROMs are legal if you delete them after 24 hours too.

Go to www.adslguide.org.uk. And find out about MTU and RWIN values. Easiest thing to do is to register for the forums and then go and ask in the section of your ISP. Doing these tweaks can help your connection become faster. One guy actually doubled his speed. Ok so you can really get past the 60k/s but your connection may only be set up to do 50k/s max so your wasting your connection.
Any help just ask here or on the PC and Internet forum.

Some rooms use hacked bots. Basically their a server that is hidden on a business computer on a very fast connection. People upload files on to the computer and serve the files. Of course if its a big business then the connections could be very fast.

I did try IRC, (for completely legal purposes, of course) and although there were a few exceptions, most servers had large queues defeating the whole point of downloading quickly, and some only served at about 20kb/s anyway, along with the fact I kept getting cut off the server.
Didn't help when DALnet was going through it's patchy stage either, meaning everyone moved away leaving me clueless as to where they all are.

You've never experience IRC and hacked Bots then. Just say that good ones could easily cope with a 10mbit Download rate 20 times faster than 512K. Some could do 50mbit as well.
And yes downloading films is illegal, go see them at the Cinema and buy the proper DVD/Video if its a good film. Keep the film companies rich then the more money they spend of good films.
Also visit www.thematrix.com and download the trailers. All I have to say is this film is going to be one of the best ever. Going to try and get to see this at the cinema as soon as I can.
I can't wait to be able to download a film in great quality within an hour
You won't be able to get a film in great quality within an hour. Besides the fact that it's illegal, you'll also find it difficult to find a source for these movies that's fast enough to keep up with you.
Make sure your get a good Firewall or if you have XP use the built in Firewall.
Heres a few sites that you should visit now you have broadband.
