Does anyone know anything about the Japan-only game known as Mr.Driller?

NGC seemed to love this game in the Importing section towards the end of their last issue, but they never seemed to say 'why'...

What's so great about it?
Anybody know??

With Animal Crossing sitting in my room and Winning Eleven 6 on the way (hopefully...!), I'm starting to take a real interest in importing, and looking into those games Nintendo seem to keep in Japan, all to themselves.

Giftpia's also got my attention, and I just know that'll be one to import!

I think this Mr.Driller game had an appearence on the Dreamcast...
And I've also seen it listed as a future-release for the GBA.

It will get a UK release some time this year, it's not a Nintendos game though, it' Namco.

You'd be better off getting it for your Dreamcast, you'd probably be able to pick up a copy for about 20p.

So, are we talking a kind of 3D-Tetris-style of game, then?

Tetris-but-different - like Dr.Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine.

If it's anything like that, I'll probably get it.
And I think I've read somewhere that it might be getting an Australian release, sometime after the summer...?

Well, you have to drill down a series of connected blocks, and in usual puzzle form, drill one brick and any connected that are the same colour disappear. The twist is, the game has gravity, so you have to avoid getting crushed.

To add a time concept to it, you'll run out of air pretty quickly, so you must collect air on your way down.

If it gets a PAL release I'll certainly get it.

I don't think it's Japan-only. Anyway, if you want me to tell you the concept of it, just say.

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
