Why are big companies like Sony and Nintendo still producing games for the game boy and the playstation

Why are big companies like Sony and Nintendo still producing games for the game boy and the playstation

Because many people still own and play on Gameboys and Playstations.

Also, both machines have superior successors that are backwards compatible, so you can play the latest PSX game on your PS2, should you so desire, and the latest GBC game on a GBA.

Profit.

Because these systems still have a large user base- more than their current systems and so it would be more profitable to produce a lower spec game which can be marketed to a larger group than the current next generation user groups. Also some of these games have been in development for ages so ut us easier to release them for the system they were originaly programmed for than to update them to run on the next generation machines.
