Okay people, when I got my XBOX, I also ordered with it one of these gizmo's :

which is great, my image quality is spanking. HOWEVER, it only has an output for a 5.1 surround system, which I don't have, so I am doomed to listen to crap sound via my telly for the time being.
Now, I've spotted this thing :

which professes to be EVEN BETTER image quality, and clearly shows a normal stereo output.
What I want to know - will this lead work on a normal telly and is it any good??

i do intend to get me a 5.1 system when i have a little more cash, but for now, my sony midi system provides more than enough loud noise for my room. i just can't wait to play halo on a large stereo

It's a good cable too - I've got one.
And if you don't want to order online for it, I got mine for ~£15 at PC World - although it was about a year ago :)

cheers tom, really appreciate it, I've spent about 2 hours trying to find a lead that did all that. you would think that the official advanced scart would have normal stereo outputs on it.

S-Video is better than the lead you get with your Xbox, but isn't as good as RGB.
If you get this cable:

It has RGB and S-Video connectors, meaning you could probably plug the RGB into your TV, and the sound outputs from the S-Video into your sound system.
It also has an optical output if you ever need it :-)
