I know this should be posted in another forum, but i figured i would get more responses here. What is the easiest way to copy a dvd onto a cd-r - so i can watch it on my laptop when i am on holiday. BTW my PC has a DVD and a CD-RW drive so all i need is for someone to tell me how to do it. For the record I am not looking to sell the disks!

Cus that would mean takin my Desktop with me!! And my laptop doesnt have a DVD player!! Cant be bothered with the whole thing now, anyway!!

And even at that it's not pretty.

At full quality, using an Athlon XP 2000+, it was going to take me 4 hours to compress 18 minutes of video into DivX.

I settled for 352x288, compressed in real-time.

Yeah, it's not a fun thing to attempt without a 2GHz chip at least.

Then you wait, and wait, and wait.

If you want it to be good quality, you wait even longer.

You go to Download.com, and search for a DVD ripper. Rip the thing to a DivX file and slap it on a CD.

Why not just bring the DVDs with you?

For some odd reason, I don't believe the last sentence of that post.

You can't back up a DVD on a CD-R, you need a DVD-R and DVD Burner.
