I have recently just started to read to the Official PS2 mag, and got to the last page about illegal gaming, or in other words,'What if videogames were illegal?' It has a fictional artical from the future about how gaming was banned.
I then started to think,'What if gaming was illegal?'

Just imagine it. Not allowed to be playing games. doesn't really bare thinking does it. No running about shooting people in the head, or scoring a goal in a way that you couldn't in real life. What we do without videogames?

In the article, it says that the reason for games being banned (fictioanl of course) was based on people not being able to tell the difference between reality and games, and that people would soon become more interested in playing games than in what is going on in real life.
Could this really happen in the future do you think? Could it come to a point where we won't be able to tell the difference between reality and games? The way that consoles are advancing, the graphics will become more and more realistic, as will the gaming itself. But, could it get to a point where we couldn't tell the difference. I very much doubt it, but then agian, anything's possible. What do you think?

And the way that the article describes the crime of videogaming is quite funny. The gaming underworld, people offering videogaming pleasure at a price. This is probably never going to happen, but try to imagine it for a moment. No Red Light District, just the 'Gaming District'. Games like GTA3 will be based on this gaming underworld instead of drugs and offing someone for money. Consoles would be smuggled to and from contries. Things like cocaine would be non-existent, instead, everybody will be smuggling games to make money. Hey, maybe its a good idea then.

A world with no videogaming, Yeah, right, as if that is going to happen.

Of course, everybody would eventually adapt, but it may take a while. But it would soon become second nature to go out and do you your own thing instead.

But if videogames became illegal, do you think PC's will become cheaper?

In Afghanistan televisions are banned. I'm not sure about handheld consoles, but I think they also come into the category of banned posessions. Therefore I would think that the kids there have never even heard of Nintendo let alone actually played videogames.

The same could probably be said of most third world countries, and yet the children living in them seem to do OK without them. Mind you, many of them are working 16 hours a day from the age of 4 or 5 onwards.

When I think of them, then I think I could probably survive a world without gaming quite easily.

Eventually, it may take its toll on some people who live for games.

When I think about it properly, no GT3, no GTA3, no MGS2. I would probably turn to the underground as well.

PAH!
Never! I would have to turn to the dark, underground world of illegal gaming. We will all be underground having "illigal" Deathmatches on Perfect Dark..

...Then cops bust in and find the room empty.. Just with an N64 staring at them, and the telly on...

Oh, and, yes, I did read the article. not as good

I agree, but still makes you think about it though, doesn't it.
I must admit, I could cope without videogames, not sure about TV. I wouldn't be able to watch football, or Dragonball Z (that's just silly really).

I'm sure everyone could cope without videogames, in the same way that they could 'cope' without tv. There would be no advantages though, other than having more money for other stuff...

Oh, and, yes, I did read the article. not as good as their last few though.

Nobody read the article then.

It certainly makes you wonder if you could cope with no videogames.

Well, can anybody cope without videogames.
