Last year, Labour set up an official task force to look into the standards of decontamination in NHS hospitals. They were particularly interested in finding out whether or not the current techniques were efficiently dealing with human CJD. The reason they were doing this was because some experts were concerned that certain surgical procedures had a very high chance of transmitting CJD from one human being to another, and they were backed up by the fact that they had several victims who had recently undergone surgery.
This report's findings launched a scathing attack on the standards of decontamination in the NHS in England and Wales, but it was never "finished". In an interview with the head of the head researcher, he was adament that he had submitted the report for printing, but, it could be classed as not finished by the governement if they never printed it. To make the situation ten times worse, an official confidential letter from the Department of Health told the researcher to destroy all his records, and basically ordered him to gag himself on the subject, he quite rightly didn't do this.
The Scottish Parliament conducted it's own report, which has been confirmed as having the exact same wording in the conclusion as the english repot "which never existed". The Scottish report was absolutely critical of the NHS techniques. To date the report has still never been published by the government, and the comittee set up to scrutinise the Health Department has never had any replies to requests for the document to be made available to them.
This is a blatant case of Westminster brushing vitally important issues under the carpet, between this and the Officegate scandal in the Scottish Labour Party, the SNP needent worry about receiving my vote in the Scottish or National elections.
