Game companies have tried to bring games online, so far only the PC and Dreamcast have tried and tested this.a few games to have internet capabilities are quake and chu chu rocket The PS2 will be releasing internet capabilities, and you will be able to go online with a numvber of games including tony hawks 3. It would be fun to enter a virtual skate park. Its a nice idea, starting up a game, connecting to the internet, then play against people you have never met, and probably never will meet.but I for one, do not like internet gaming to much, it costs money, its slow, and whats the point when you could just play against your mates for free.
Wouldnt it be great to have a place where we could go, meet up and play games with others. I know we have arcades, but most arcades are located at holiday destinations, not round the corner, next to the newsagent and chip shop. What I would like is a place like a cinema. Game companies could hold premires for their big games like metal gear solid at these places. outside the building would be posters advitising new released games, and whats coming soon. on the inside, you buy a ticket, then go play games, take part in tournemts or watch previews of games. There could be a room, which is like an arcade which has arcade games and slot machines, a shop selling game related goods, and a room for each platform. if you want to check out the new PSONE or PS2 titles, head to the sony room, or if your more intrested in mario, make your way to room nintendo. scattered around the place would be people dressed as game characters, like lara croft, crash bandicoot and even sonic. If your not into all the new stuff, and would rather kick it old school, then head to retro gaming.
I would really like to see a place like that, somewhere for us gamers to go. they could be put around near cinemas etc.they would be all over the country, so no one is left out, and everyone is invited. But what to call this place, perhaps gameamar, gameplex or gaming theatre. Whatever its called it would be great. Another feature they could have is when games like Smackdown, Tony hawk etc are released, the real life stars of the games will come down to meet the fans, play against gamers and sign autographs. I know that when ann robinson comes to visit, I will be first in line for a signed photo and the chance to beat her at the weakest link, then say ' you are the weakest link, goodbye!'
Inside could be food stops, as no gaming session is complete without snacks, is it? there would be a KFC, Burger king, Mc donalds and Pizza hut, as well as carefully loacated vending machines.
But some how, I cant see places like that appearing any time soon. so for now, we will have to make do with inviting our friends round for a uick deathmatch on timesplitters, or ging online to go skating with complete strangers, that are hidden away behind a user name.

Most games have single player modes as well as a selection of
> options for the sociable gamers out there. First person shoot them ups, have
> death matches, captutre the bag etc, and carting games have tournemetns and
> battle modes.
Capture the bag hey? Sounds good to me :D
That could be quite an interesting future online multiplayer game! :P
That means, i can get smackdown 3 now.
thats what i ment about the consoles, but also have a seperate room for those arcade junkies out there.
Instead of arcade type pods, you could just have consoles scattered about next to four seater sofas (the consoles would have to be bolted down, but you get the idea) making it a more homely environment and moving it away from the image of arcades from the old days that most people have.
Go see your bank manager and see if he's up to an overdraft for it, then write to Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft for support (you might even get some nice beta versions as exclusives for your customers), and remember me when you've made your first million :)
