As a result of the imminent X-Box launch Stateside, theres been quite a lot of coverage in the UK about the machine, its specs, titles, etc..

Though, to the causal gamer at least, Nintendos PR has been comparitivly a lot more subdued, however, I have seen movies of a number of 'Rare's upcomming GC titles all looking rather tasty...

Thing is, this has quite whetted my appitite for some next-gen console action ...

Unfortunatly, Microsoft arnt intending to release their little beast until March 2002... Nintendo a little less sure of their date (probably intending to react to Microsoft)

Now... not only do I want console action now... but theres also the imminent arrival of Chrimble and all the holy presant giving that it involves....

However... sitting in a number of electrical retail outlets near me, and for the recently lowered price of 199.99, I can pickup a PS2, and be playing GTA3, GT3, etc... before the shops close this evening...

This option is appealing to me more and more... so why not ot the casual gamer, who is seeing all these new titles, which look stunning, especially compaired to the releases on their old PS1's (besides, with a PS2 you can still play PS1 games, than therefore justify buying the console so close to spending 100 quid on a few PS1 games last Saturday)

It maybe Microsoft and Nintendos lax attitude to the European market will be damaging to themselves not only because of the greatly delayed release dates, but because their marketeing is working more for Sony than it is for themselves?
