Hi,

For the life of me, I don't know what' causing this.

In my Windows 7, Windows Explorer hangs whenever I try to copy from one directory to another using Ctrl A to select all, Ctrl C to copy to clipboard, and then Ctrl V to paste over to the new folder.

The progress bar in the address bar at the top slowly fills left to right, but doesn't complete, instead just hanging the entire system.

It never used to happen, but now I have to 'crash' power off by holding the power button til power off.

This is even happening on a fresh Windows install.

How on earth do I resolve this?

Thanks for that Eccles.

I use security 'Safe' software and I can't copy anything into it.

I can copy out from it, and I can copy the copied folder to another regular folder. But if I try to copy into it, the system hangs like a something-or-other.

I've sent a support request to the people. Let's see if they can resolve it before I lose all my hair.

This doesn't describe you problem exactly but has a lot of useful advice you could try as you Explorer.exe is crashing. The first tests I would do is a Memtest, chdsk /r and try the same copy and paste in safe mode. If safe mode is fine then it's likely that another process is interfering.
