Is there a way of playing chipped PS1 games on the PS2 without actually having the chip?

This isn't for pirate games by the way I've been offered a CD-R copy of resident evil 2-trial edtion, It's a pre-version of the game that capcom send to shows like E3 but it's a copy.

I'm after a xplorer type CD that will boot it up, anyone know of any?

cheers :-)
