The industry is growing and people are getting scared so they decide to blame videogames for the increase of crime in the world.I can see their point with games like Kingpin and Soldier of Fortune but dont these people realise that the consumer knows the difference between fact and fiction.Blaming games for violent behavior is wrong it is down to their growing up enviorment and the way they live not how many people they blow away in Half Life. The people who are moaning and trying to get these games banned are looking for an answer and games is not it,sure they do contain violence but not in a serious form.If anything you can bet if Grand Theft Auto did not get the publicity it got when released it would not be so popular. In America I can understand Sega releasing the lightgun due to the gangs but over here it is not half as bad.Leave games alone and do something important and dont critise somrhting you know nothing about.

Good point, reasonably well made, although the spelling in the last sentence raises some questions about what games do to your ability for coherent thought...
It's certainly wrong to draw parallels with America when talking about the game violence debate. Sure enough, they have more so-called 'game-related' deaths, but they also have freely available firearms. It's hardly any wonder that problems of violence follow. Both in the U.S. and the U.K., it's easy to get yourself a copy of Soldier of Fortune, but in America it's much easier to get a .45 calibre handgun than it is here. Go figure.
