Civil wars are becoming more and more common as of late in the games market and the Gamecube will have their fair share of them as well.

WOW there Dringo backtrack a bit what do you mean ëcivil warí?

Ah yes sorry, a civil war is a war between two people from the same country an American Civil War for example would be Americans fighting Americans.

Ok? What has this got to do with games???

Well normally itís Nintendo Vs. Playstation etcÖ but from time to time two games will be released on the same console that will compete against each other a good example is Mario Vs. Banjo.

Ah right like Diddy Kong Racing Vs. Mario Kart I see, now what about these future civil wars?

Civil Wars in the future of gaming will be increased compared to the past especially on the Gamecube. Nintendo themselves try to cater for all gamers but now with the increase of 3rd party developers there will be more choice for lets say beat ëem up fans what will they choose? Smash Brothers or Soul Calibur? That is one example another particularly dominant one involves Resident Evil and Eternal Darkness. Resident Evil as everyone will now know is Gamecube only and Eternal Darkness is being made by one of Nintendoís 2nd party developers Silicon Knights. They both seem very similar and both fall into the survival horror genre, both look and will undoubtedly will be BRILLIANT!

In your example Dringo which one do you think will be the best?

Personally Iím putting my money on Eternal Darkness, the storyline in this is much deeper and darker, it is much more psychological, there has been a promised 40-60 hours game time and it features many new innovative ideas such as the ìsanity meterî which measures your sanity and if you ever go insane you can start hallucinating things which will drive the player into wondering if what they see is real or not? Silicon Knights looks great and has been in development for a long time it was originally slated for an N64 release but has been shifted over to the Gamecube, the camera angles like Resident Evil are fixed but instead of cutting between each angle the camera swoops into a different position. Sadly I predict that Resident Evil will be the more successful title it has built up a very large fan base and has been around for a longer period of time Eternal Darkness is a new name whilst Resident Evil is a recognized one so will probably be the larger seller.

So how good a game is doesnít always come into the equation?

Thatís right but it isnít just game names that can affect sales. Another civil war will take place on the Gamecube launch day in America involving Crazy TaxiÖ

Crazy Taxi may not be the better game but will sell more as it is a recognized one right?

Well actually no as Crazy Taxiís opposition is a game called Simpsonís Road Rage, Simpsonís Road Rage actually promises to better Crazy Taxi by being able to smash into buildings and to just tour the town and features much more options compared with Crazy Taxi especially as Crazy Taxi felt a bit limited this hopes to better that but I still remain optimistic.

I see so Crazy Taxi maybe recognized in the game world but The Simpsonís are recognized worldwide so could sell more, will it turn out as good though?

Thatís just the point although it sounds better than Crazy Taxi it could still turn out to be another duff game license like Simpsonís wrestling meanwhile we know how good Crazy Taxi is and despite its problems it is still a solid, fun game to play and we know this already that is what makes this Civil War the first the Gamecube will experience a very interesting one.

Hereís to the future

Smash Brothers, fighters destiny, MK, killer instinct, granted they aren't as good as sony ones except smash brothers but that is a choice believe it or not.

Civil War? Eh?

What you on about, boy?

I suppose it is a bit different for a Nintendo owner though, this concept of choice.

In the days of the N64 if you wanted a quality fighting game, you bought Super Smash Bros, no questions asked.

But now, heaven forbid, there might just be a choice of many.

But civil war?

I still can't get that into my head.

Civil war because some games will prefer one game to another on the same system?

I went to the supermarket today, and bought crinkle cut chips rather than straight cut. It's a revolution.
