The email refers to an 'application' being accepted. I reccomend deletion straight away for it forwards it to everyone it can on your contact list (not sure if there's a 50 limit or something, but 50 is still a big amount).
Not sure how it damages files, or what, other than spreading itself, it actually does, but according to Symmantec, it deactivates at the end of the month.
Anyway, emails with extensions are always nasty. Very nasty.
They all come from [email protected] and have the extension .pif or somthing?
It wouldn't suprise me if he did send the virus, although it hasn't accomplished anything, Norton Antivirus scanned the email before I could even open it.

Norton Antiviurs found it in my Temerorary internet files, under the name "Snoopy.exe".
It fakes email addresses, making it seem that someone actually sent you the virus, when it was the virus itself. For instance, I had apparantly sent it to him, and it was laid out as Chipseh
