I consider my self to be a bit of a purist where games are concerned, and nothing gets my back up more than the typical crap PAL conversions, but I was wondering if there was a way to find out the conditions of PAL games on the PS2 when they get converted from other countries? Is there a website that describes the differences of games that have come from other countries like Japan or America? I was thinking about buying Virtua Fighter 4 and was wondering if it had a squashed picture and slower speed.

Another conversion which was molested was Devil May Cry (the first game) which had ultra fat boarders. Which was a shame as it is such a good game.

I'd just read some reviews.

It's a lot better these days - I think a lot of games come with a 60Hz mode. DMC and FFX probably set a mark in the worst conversions ever, then people started noticing how important a good conversion is.

What about NFL Blitz 2000 for the PSx? Does that run at full screen/speed in the UK?

Yep that's exactly what i mean. Surely it would be far better for the company to use the American translation for the English version and get it out far sooner and then concentrate on getting the game in spanish, french, german etc for those markets. I'm fed up of having to wait for games that could easily be released 6-12 months before they actually are.

Ahmen to that. Bit it takes so long because they make a european version which usually includes like 6 countries, but you would think that it would be better, profit wise, to make the english one seperate and first

The thing that annoys me about them is why they take so long especially RPG games. Why can't we just have the American language version and stuff the rest of Europe. Why should we have to wait a year for the company to translate the game into Greek or whatever other languages when there is a perfectly good american language release that could be released on English shores in PAL format within a month of the release over in America.

I happen to own VF4 and yes it does support 50and 60Hz. Gota say its a GREAT game, best fighter on the PS2 by far, not as flashy as Tekken but WAY deeper and harder and ALOT more to do.

If its the TV size and any distortion that bothers you. Im sure VF4 supports both 50Hz and 60Hz modes, thus meaning that if your TV supports both you should have a good chance of a decent picture. However, other games are either 50Hz or 60Hz.
On your question, me ain't got the foggiest about the difference between conversions etc...
