You knowÖ for my 11th birthday almost 7 years ago, I received Disneyís ëThe Lion Kingí for the Mega Drive. £50 it cost my mumÖ £50 for a Mega-Drive game! Can you believe it? But you know what? Iíve never once looked back and wished I had the moneyÖIíve never regretted getting that gameÖ it was the game for then, it was the game for that moment in time ñ and it was amazing!

You knowÖ come to think of it, I havenít regretted buying many videogames and videogame consolesÖ Iíve always had a ëthingí for videogames ñ sure, Iím no rich kid who had every console under the sun because Mummy and Daddy needed time alone, but I had my fair share of consoles and being the second of five children thatís quite a feat!

I went through the Mega-Drive and the SNES era ñ having both consoles, I had and N64 and I have a GBA and not once (except slightly with the GBA due to lack of games) have I regretted having themÖ sure, itís a pain to finance all this stuff and goodness knows how many birthday presents I sacrificed to get this one game, but Iíve never really looked backÖ

Do you know how many times you live? (Secular / Atheist PoV) ONCE! Sure money is important, and you have to build the foundations of your life to be able to set-off when youíre 18/21, but you only live onceÖ and worrying about £50 here or there is stupidÖ especially when you can spend that amount if you go clubbing in the Town Centre! For about a year Iíve told myself not to get a Playstation 2 ñ Not just because Iím a insane Ninty :D, but because Iíve actually worried about this £2-300 (that Iíve wasted before now anyway)! Youíd be surprised how fast a studentís cash can go down ñ one day youíll experience it!!

But you know what ñ Iíve gone into Lion King modeÖ

Me being a Christian I believe, without a shadow of a doubt, that Iíll march through those pearly gates and go see God when my number is up, but I only get one life here on earth and Iím not going to waste itÖI donít need to impress people ñ itís not in my nature, I donít need to win a prize or be seen as the best ñ but what I intend to do is have fun! How? ñ Playing games! Iím going to buy a PlayStation 2 even if all I do is watch ëThree Kingsí twice and beat you all at Pro Evolution Soccer 2 or THPS3 On-line! Iím not bothered about the moneyÖ thatís stupidÖ sure, you have to be conscious with money and manage your finances appropriately, but money isnít everythingÖ life is!

If you enjoy somethingÖ do it ñ You only have one life! Donít let your worrying detract you from living YOUR lifeÖ! I like videogamesÖ theyíre the only real means I have of relaxingÖ and taking it easy.

I know a lot of you donít have jobs, and you find money hard to come byÖ one day you wonítÖ and when that day comes ñ donít let the fear stop you livingÖ people have killed themselves because of moneyÖ and itís a shame, because compared to life, water, and the air we breath, money isnít important!

Just make sure you have no regrets when youíre olderÖ and the only way to do that is to live life to the max! Fear is only part of your imaginationÖ

Just jump in the waterÖ!

£200 - £300 what's the difference?

Half a students monthly income?

The thing is... I can remember a time when I just didn't worry, about anyting... and life was bliss, now I'm beginning to worry about finances, people, impressions and all that monkey crap - but now i've decided to stop...

I'm 17... not bloody 34!

Time to fly the nest - me thinks... at least for a bit... time to see 'the world'...

You've simply decided you like what you see.

No-one throws their money away deliberatly, no matter how much they have.

You will enjoy your PS2, and have decided that their isn't anything better to spend your money on - good choice!

It sounds to me like the games/price drop on the PS2 have made you decide to buy one.

To you, the pros of owning a PS2 have outweight the cons (cons being 'could own a GC instead' etc.)
I don't think you've gone into a reckless buying mode.

It's more likely that the talk of GTA3, GT3, MGS2 etc. has subconciously made you decide that the PS2 warrants your money - not that life is too short, we should live our lives, you've gone into Lion King mode .... etc.

I'm not quite sure what your saying. Should I spend all my money on games because I like them, or should I save money for games and then buy one without thinking "I could have saved that money and spent it on something else"?

Jump in the water? Take the plunge? etc. is that applicable to something as bog standard as shopping? Hmm.... I guess so.

Well, you've taken a straight forward, reasonably dull topic and added some drama to it.

I like it! :-)
