Spaceworld 2001 was the venue where the most amazing games designer unveiled sequels to two of his finest ever creations. Mario Sunshine made the audience smile Wahey a sequel to Mario 64 but Zelda...

Dropped cigars, utter silence, disbelief what has he done, he has finally lost the plot...

Message to Sony fans!

Don't go parading about Nintendo ruining Zelda just yet looking at the in game shots it seems similar to the N64 Zelda's but why cell shading? Well unlike most games your used to sequels doesn't mean the same game with hyped up graphics and a few extras it cam mean a completely new game. Zelda GC not only looks to add a refreshing new look to the series and yes it does look childish but does that matter?

I won't give you all the graphics don't mean anything, just because it looks childish doesn't mean it is talk again as I have said it too many times but with the recent Resident Evil announcement who will care if Zelda looks a bit childish, if it looks to kiddie for your taste then buy one of the 6 confirmed Resident Evil titles instead. The idea of sneaking around, the quirky graphics this is an interactive cartoon and Mr. Miyamoto will once again prove why he is the worlds finest games designer.

Message to Nintendo fans.

Ok now you've picked your jaws up of the floor do not feel bad about the new look. Zelda GC has incorporated many game playing elements from its 64 bit incarnations such as the Z lock on and assigning weapons to button method. After watching the video it is clear Link has much more moves up his sleeve such doing some smart flip over an enemy and sneaking around avoiding suspicion this game looks brilliant.

Second of all this game is made by Shigeru Miyamoto he hasn't made a Zelda title since Ocarina of Time (both Oracle games and Majora's Mask didn't involve him as head designer) and did he let us down there? There is no chance of changing it as it is too late but just look, sure you might of preferred the Spaceworld 2000 video (I didn't) but after the uproar that followed the unveiling it looks like any future Zelda games may actually look like that.

Give Mr. Miyamoto some support he has never let us down and he won't this time, facial expressions never thought possible is capable with the "new look". Don't go off crying about how a Japanese man has ruined your favourite game be happy that the Worlds greatest Designer has made Zelda even better by keeping it refreshing and original and isn't letting it get old a boring ala Tomb Raider. Just have faith in the man.

Here's to the future

Exactly, that's just the problem.

If you don't like it you don't have to buy it.
Any way I hope link follows the trend of previous games and gets more animated moves, like the diving into water part in ocarina of time this was adapted so link could dive into water from less high places.
I wonder if gannondorf will still be in it and what his latest incarnation will look like.

They could probably do the first two without the cartoony look. Anyway a bit of stealth should do Zelda good but I do hope that the game is much better than OOT was.

Have to agree with Turbonutter on this one. I'm not a big fan of the new look, and it's very unclear what is actually added to the gameplay with this appraoch.

There wasn't much of a jump in the mario games, until the N64 version. There wasn't much of a jump in the zelda games until the N64 version. The thing to remember though, ti that they had people 'wowed'. They had everyone impressed. This doesn't.

Essentially, all the zelda games are the same anyway.

Thre rest of you Ninty's can feel free to challenge me here, but it's true. They're all very similar sequels.

There's always a sword and shield to start off with. There are always flippers, hookshot, ocarina, bombs, bow, etc. Always a number of dungeons, with the same puzzles. Push something heavy here, use fire to melt this, etc.

I loved the first zelda game I ever played, on the Gameboy, but since then I've always had the feeling that I knew what to expect. I knew what equipment I'd need to get where, etc.

Hopefully, this version will be good.

The thing is, the new look is utterly pointless. It doesn't add any originality, and although it technically won't make the game any worse, some people might not actually like the cartoon style and it certainly doesn't do much to help attract the opposition.

Well I wouldn't call it a debate, one reply. Anyway I think this will maybe be a turn for the better if they're willing to try something new with Zelda. Up till now it's mostly just been improving on the same format and while this isn't a bad thing Zelda OOT didn't really impress me too much. I would like to see more new things in Zelda, more than just items but items with totally new and original uses. I would like to see puzzles which never become repetitive and are never frustrating. I would like to see a combat system which doesn't seem like an inconvenience. I would really like to see monsters of more than just one or two types and I don't mean that they are the same type but look different either. I would especially like an explanation as to why Zelda gets the game named after her when she does far less than Link and if possible I would like Link to get his deserved credit.

Of course chances are that my Zelda wishes wont all come true (especially not the last one) but I expect that at least some are planned for the next game. In the end though, all I really want is a fun game that has something new and interesting to offer me.

The only way the new Zelda looks childish is Link and his fluffy hair and cute round winking face.

Apart from that it looks pretty dark.

I think that this style suits the game much better as the previous "realistic one".
