I have to say being a Nintendo Fan that gameplay is by far the most important factor in a game. My mates who own playstations/PS2s say Ocarina of Time has "blocky graphics". I have to say this partly true but the rewarding and immersive gameplay makes it a classic whether its blocky or not. Many developers think that if they produce a game with great graphics then it will sell well even if it has dull gameplay. Graphics are more necessary these days to keep up the pace with the quickly developing hardware but surely how the game plays is more important.
Bit of both if possible, more Gameplay but i'm sorry you really can't have ugly graphics.

I prefer gameplay but the games can't have really bad graphics
