there is alot criticism that game developers are running out of ideas so they are making sequels. In my opinion yes there are similar games. but there is a varety which brings excitement. I think sequels are also good. because it allows the fun to contine.
do u guys disagree with me and think that game developers are running out of ideas? let me know what u think.

yea if a company comes across a game that sells like hot cakes then they'll make another to see if the popularity continues. if it does then the company will concentrate on that series knowing it will sell alot and probably make them a profit. however they may not risk trying something original and new as it might not sell resulting in a loss of money which for any business is bad news. so companies will much rather go for the safer option then risking it all just to be original

I don't think game developers are running out of ideas myself u look around and especially SEGA are producing new original games. I think most developers don't try something new because they are afraid people won't like it and it won't sell and seeing as games cost so much to make if it dosen't sell well your going to be in trouble. When asked what was the minimum amount u could make a game for Ed Bartlett (lead programer Bitmap Brothers) he said u could make something that resembles a good game for around 1 million pounds so for something like MGS2 would cost probabely 10million (just a guess) and if that turned out rubish and didn't sell Konomai even being a huge company would be in serious trouble. So any smaller companys would be put out of business with losses that size. So thats why i recon there are so many unoriginal games and so many sequals.
