with the new consoles that r coming out(playstation2, x-box,etc etc). i believe this will bring more companies together to make new and better games.
What i mean is that no company will disappear soon like some people believe will happen, but a new fight will begin between the companies which hopefully will be a long and hard one as they will plan to be the best in every way.
Anyway with Sony bringing out the PS2 i think that they have a great fight agains't the new Nintendo "dolphin" and the Microsoft "x-BOX" as no-one knows how they will run like.And this means that it will probably take about 2 years to see who is the next generation computer king.As all the computer conpanies have a great lot of power.
Sony having a advantage allowing u to play old games which means that millions of people will still follow them. But with the X-BOX no-one will know how it will act playing games. Yeah it does sound good but who really trusts Microsoft at the moment. As you hear them in the computing world all the time ripping people off, putting viruses in there software. Well who says that they wouldn't do it again.

Those are good points you make but are you forgetting an important thing. The games, people have been waiting for a sequel to Metal Gear Solid, since the end of the first game. Playstation have it. There are some absolutely fantastic sequels coming out on the PS2 and this will guarantee sales revenue for the PS2, this will give them an added head start.
What everyone will start saying now is that the PS2 has no originality it is all sequels. But the Nintendo, how many Marios, Zeldas, Donkey Kongs and Pokemon have preceeded them yet these will be it's best assests.

hey, could you imagine it, nintendo and sony joining together, they could have lara croft starring in lara and kazooie, or mario as crash mario III, hahahahaha, that could be pretty funny. a merge with smaller companies joining the big guns could though be a major breakthrough in the gaming world, smaller companies could bring some crative and new ideas and the big companies could keep the buissness going, i think this would be a good idea!
