Nintendo seem to be making the same mistakes again. The N64 is a great piece of kit with some brilliant games (and I mean truly brilliant) but constant delays in launching, secrecy and Nintendo's shyness with third-party developers has meant that it was slow to go. Sure it has its niche but PlayStation and Dreamcast are so much more in the puplic awareness.

And now Nintendo seem on the verge of delaying the Dolphin, have issued no statements about the console and have no third-party support (they haven't even sent out to dev kits). What on earth are you doing Nintendo!

Bringing a topic from the bottom of the pile, back to life. Last message on this was 27th January 2000, so well over a year later, I bring it back, dust it down, and do nothing else but to let it fall once again.

First points first. I am a huge Nintendo fan. Zelda is a work of genius and few games offer as much unadulterated fun as Diddy Kong Racing. Which is why I want the Dolphin to succeed. Which it won't if Nintendo repeat their mistakes.

It is a fact that Nintendo have NOT sent out Dev kits to third party developers. The key word here is THIRD PARTY. Nintendo themselves are INTERNAL DEVELOPMENT. Nintendo own an interest in Rare so that counts as INTERNAL DEVELOPMENT and Factor 5 are so close to Nintendo (producing proprietary tools and stuff) that they are known as SECOND PARTY DEVELOPERS. The likes of Capcom, Namco, Squaresoft, EA, Eidos, etc have not had Dolphin dev kits. Thios is stated very clearly in the financial report into Nintendo's future published by Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, one of Wall Streets largest investment companies.

Yes, if the Dolphin launches this year or early next we will have a superb Miyamoto game to play, a stunning Rare title and a wonderful Factor 5 game utilising every aspect of the Dolphin's power. But can a console launch with just three games?

None of the details have been revealed about Rare or Nintendo's games but Factor 5's first game is called Thornado and I have seen some design sketches and heard some of the game music. If they are up to the sound level surely they must be quite far into development!

It is gonna be great! so shut it! NOOOWWWWWW!
