Am trying to put a facebook page badge onto my website for people to click. I'm copying and pasting the given link onto my desired website page but when I publish it to 'live' the badge doesn't come up. The link remains in it's format.

Would appreciate it if anyone could help,

If you haven't managed it already the Adding Facebook to your InstantPro Website tutorial might help!

Yes, I was referring to the cake website; I removed the link whilst I was figuring out how to manage it as it was looking so untidy.

You were right about the HTML text; I now understand what I should have done.

Many thanks for your helpful advice!!

I can not see any particular example of what you are explaining on your hosted site (assuming you are referring to the InstantPro cake website).

From what I can gather however the text FB have given to you to add to the site is HTML. And by the sounds of it you have added it to the content of the site rather than the source code.

In the builder (page editor screen) you will find a "HTML" button (towards the top right). Click on this and it will display the HTML for the page you are working on.

Find where you want the content to go within the script and paste it into there, rather than the actual page layout. It may take some tweaking but it should work.
