yep being so fantastic like i am i have played doom on the GBA
and being someone who hates doom with a passion i must say this was pretty impressive.
it is virtually the same as the PSone one the graphics are amazing for a hand held and there is no slow down what so ever the sounds are damn good from weird groans to the "urgh" when you jump into the toxic green stuff.
if you like your first person shooters then buy this now!

It's the US version of Doom I've got too - think its the only one out so far.

As to most GBA games being too dark - in Doom you are wondering around in pitch black at times, even though I'm playing in a well lit room. Simply bad design.

That's the case with most GBA games though.

You must have played a different Doom from me then - just got it about two hours ago and very disappointed after playing through the first three levels.

Screen is WAY too dark. On a number of ocassions I was fumbling about on a totally black screen, only given a clue as to what was going on when a switch or something is noticed in the distance and giving you something to aim at in you walk through the darkness. I'm sitting in a well lit room - this shouldn't happen. Aside from the few moments of total darkness, its hard to tell the toxic, green goo from normal floor at times and doors can be very hard to pick out from walls at a distance.

I could almost swear that there is some slow down in there too, when spinning around in particular. Felt like I was moving through goo. Either there's slow down or serious issue with the controller. Speaking of control - the shoulder buttons placement make strafing very hard, but that a problem with the control layout more than the game. I just find that my hands don't bend that way comfortably!

All in all disappointed - roll on an English language version of Golden Sun.
