All you have to do is to block messages from people who aren't on your contacts list.
They're just random messages from random names advertising stuff.

They're not actually adverts. They're adverts that are sent through MSN Messenger.
You can get a program that stops all adverts popping up, tis good, my dad has it... I used to have it on mine too but then i reformatted my machine and forgot to put it back on...
