Shooting games seem to go through stages. I see it as really starting off with Wolfenstein 3D & Doom, these are shoot em ups that were just all out shooting or die games. Because of these games loads more shoot em up games were made, but there are all the same until you get that game with a differance. Then you have the games with a light gun, succh as Dead or Alive. So then a few more shoot em ups copy this success of the light gun. Then you have games such as Goldeneye that bring a little order into shoot em ups, instead of just running around shooting you also have to do tasks. Then a few games followed this. Then we have the multi player bots like in Perfecct Dark now there are a few games with this in them.

Every so often there is something that revives shoot em up games and changes the way that they are played. What is the next thing that is going to make shoot em ups different/playable again without being boring by fealing the same as others?

(Sorry if some facts arent 100% correct)
