"After the terrible terrorist attack on New York, Washington, and Pennsylvania on September 11th, many people have expressed concern regarding the storyline of Metal Gear Solid 2, which is due to be released soon by Konami. The game's storyline involves terrorists attacking New York, although the protagonist is trying to save the city from terrorists. Still, the subject is understandably a very raw nerve, and no-one wants to act callously to the pain of the last few days. To that end, Konami of America issued this statement:

"Konami of America is still in shock over the recent tragic events. Metal Gear Solid 2 is about the desire to end violence on a global scale, as the previous games in the series have been. Like everyone in America, Konami is evaluating the impact of these events. In the meantime, all of our thoughts are with New York City and Washington, DC and all of the people whose lives have been touched by this tragedy. There are no words to adequately express our sorrow, but we firmly believe that the people of America will come through this trial stronger than ever."

Personally, I believe that the game will still be released, just delayed. The Metal Gear Ray machine is fantasy-based, and the player is a good guy trying to stop terrorism. Konami is acting responsibly by holding off and re-evaluating MGS2..." - Gaming Age / KONAMI

That was then... but the game is almost, if not, in Gold stage now and it's on target for both Jap and US release dates...

Inviting the enemy back for tea and biscuits, then when s/he refuses burning their face with coffee and saying 'terribly sorry there chap'.

I thought Saffire was canned?

Maybe that's a different game...

Yeah, I reckon Rare will come out with an MGS2 beater... the thing is, Rare have the talent in all areas, and they know what they're up against... Konami have batted first and Rare know what they've got to beat.

I sincerely hope Rare don't use the Perfect Dark franchise... I wouldn't mind... but Joanna Dark seemed like a mixture between Lara and Bond... she didn't really have a backbone of her own...

I'd like to see an English Snake... lol! I can imagine it now!

Distracting the enemy by throwing crumpets... Speaking in a posh voice to be let on the ships and into rooms... and us English are damn clever so you know the AI would be top..... :D

I wonder what Rare really do have in store...

Saffire and After Dark will have amazing AI. Rare are spending a lot of time on that factor alone. They say the guards even have hormones.

I dunno... I still think the Gamecube has more to offer.

I'd play SFA over MGS2 anyday...

What I do like about Metal Gear Solid is the AI.. I think it's amazing the way they react to almost everything...

After finally playing the first game (MGS) on the PC about 4 weeks ago, I didn't think the game's storyline was much to brag about... Admittedly I didn't play the whole thing, but it did seem like a Hi-er-Tech American James Bond Game with advanced AI.

I downloaded a 9MB 4 Minute movie from IGN about two days ago - it's the TGS trailer in English... the music sounds great, and the graphics are cool, but what was most impressed with was the storyline... I didn't even catch all of it, but what I did catch, mixed with the music and action was very impressive...

I think the 'longetivity' of the game could be quite good... I mean despite wanting to play the game over and over again, I can't wait to get into the kitchen and smash loads of stuff... I haven't played the Demo which I don't mind too much... But i'm quite looking forward to the game... better start winning a few Gameaday's, or there's no way i'll get MGS2, Pro Evo and SD3... I could afford it, but i've got Christmas and my Gamecube fund to look after! :D

Still, I bet someone was glad of it! :D

I was glad.... I thought you were going to say it had been delayed seven years... that would have been very funny, it would have been the most anticipated game forever.
