I've got a feeling that by the year 2010, games developers will have no idea what to do with their dev development stuff.
All original ideas will be used up, and they will have to start re-making older games to suit the newer ones.
The consoles memory will be so huge. They'll be faster than a tocket in hyperdrive.
They will be able to generate more colours. If two colours with similar values were used next to each other, you won't know where one starts and the other ends.
As I said before, there won't be any more stuff to be classified as 'original', so they will have to copy older games from older consoles onto the discs for the newer consoles. But then, developers will be as lost a a sheep in a maze for ideas on what to fill up the rest of the disc with.
The consoles will be so fast, that developers will have to artificially program a blank screen to go between menus and the start of the game to avoid any wierd outcomes.
And even if any developers manage to create an original game, will it meet the consoles' standards?
And then there's the fact that, if a developer ever copy an existing game from an older console onto a newer one, the newer one will have extra memory, and they'll be stuck trying to figure out what to fill the rest of the disc up with.
And then there consumers' demands. What if the games isn't as good as the rumours said they'd be? Or, what if the gamers don't think it's reached the standards of the console? What if people think it's comparable to the PS2?
I'm not really trying to offend PS2 fans by saying that last sentence, but by 2010, there will be consoles better than the PS2 and people will be saying that a crap game on a future console can be compared to it, just like PS2 owners do to the N64 at the moment.
But then, to move away from the console part of this topic, what will the consoles' peripherals be like, and how will they conpare to the present consoles and stuff?
Controller shapes and designs won't be thought as being 'otiginal' either. I bet, the next-generation console of 2010 will have a controller shaped and designed just the same as XBox or Dreamcast. Memory cards will have such a huge amount of space on them that it seems like you've got an 80 Gig hard drive the size of your thumb, so much memory that it seems like it has unlimited space on it and you'll only ever need one. I reckon that rumble packs will be able to really MOVE the controller about in your hands, instead of just shaking it, to give a more realistic feel if your character drops a gun or you lose grip of the steering wheel in a racing game.
It's extremely likely that there'll be a new GameBoy that can generate 3D worlds, and that will have a colour camera and printer, with online play and the ability to use it as a radio and the ability for it to generate realistic sounds instead of little buzzes, beeps and hisses like the current GB's.
