i thought some people would be quite interested in this so here is what sony have said about it.
SONY:
Anyone who's visited a motor show will be familiar with the notion of the concept car - vehicles that are either still at the prototype level of production or eschew conventional ideas of design purely for the enjoyment of engineers and public alike. It's very rare that these cars actually make it to the final production stage, and even rarer for anyone outside of the car companies to actually get behind the wheel of one and take it to the streets. Rare that is, until now.
With Gran Turismo 3 currently breaking barriers in realistic car simulation, SCEI has seen fit to produce a spin-off title that will allow Japanese gamers to take control of concept vehicles to be featured at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show. These include designs from the likes of Nissan, Mitsubishi and Subaru, to name but three. The title? Gran Turismo Concept 2001 TOKYO. The cars? Well, they haven't all been officially announced yet, but the current list reads thus:
DAIHATSU: Copen
HONDA: Civic Type R, Integra Type R, NSX-R, Dualnote
MAZDA: RX-7 Type R Bathurst R, RX-8, Atenza 5HB
MITSUBISHI: Lancer Evolution VII Rally Car Prototype
NISSAN: R34 Skyline GT-R M-spec, V35 GT-R Concept, Fairlady Z, Skyline 300GT, Premera 20V
SUBARU: Impreza WRX STi Prodrive Style
TOYOTA: Altezza Gita AS300, Soarer 430SCV, WiLL VS, Pod, RSC
