F:After the advertisement by Sony of its portable PlayStation, the financial markets have reacts negatively on the Nintendo action. Why?

Iwata: They undoubtedly remember the time when Sony became the number one in the market of the video game with its PlayStation, whereas we were at the time the uncontested leader of the sector. That has shown whole world that it was possible to become the leader of this market from nothing and and to take risk exists that that still reproduces on the market of the portable consoles.

F:What changed today?

Iwata:We learned from our errors, while being from now on very attentive so that will make Sony in this sector and while reacting as soon as we obtain more information on the PSP. But it is nice on behalf of Sony to have informed to us 18 months in advance of its intentions. That gives us also time to prepare an answer adapted to the attack of Sony and to think of the next generation of GameBoy.

Oh how I laughed... Nintendo aren't totally stupid.

And all they got to do to advertise it is to say:

GBA2 has 2x the processing power of the PSP, games can have double the amounts of polygons on the screen etc.

If you can show to the public that your product if far better, people will go for it.

Explain to them why they should buy your product.

It has better graphics, be blunt.

When Sony can get gamers just by sticking their name on something, Nintendo need to educate people as to the full power of something.

Discs would mean that some kind of memory card would be required.

Oh yeah, now that is a great idea. Of ocurse, it would have to be more versatile than the current linking sytem.

As for media type, I haven't really thought of this, but the first thing that comes into my head is a cheaper version of an SD card.

Then Ninty would rule. I've had faith in the big N since I was about 4/5, playing on my NES, and I'm not going to give up now.

Thinking about this, it looks like an N64/Dreamcast power handheld seems possible (GBA being more or less up to PS standard, not quite, but more or less).

Although MS own Rare, MS aren't in competition with Nintendo in the handheld market yet...

Handheld Goldeneye?
16 player link cables possible?

Think of the possibilities...

Having both would mean a lot more expensive console. And a lot bigger.

I think they'll probably fail if they go for carts on the next console. Better to just copy Sony.
