After completing Vice City, I decided to have a few games of C&C Generals online. And everything that was wrong with it since I last played has got worse.
Elitism is at it's highest on this game.
"u a n00b!!1 u no play!!!11"
Anybody without a 10-5 ratio score gets kicked straight away, unless they can convince everybody they're on a new account. The amount of times I've been kicked from a game before it has started is rediculous, just because I'm not so sad to have played over two HUNDRED games. Seriously, one game lasts an average of 2 hours... Just think how SAD these people are to have won 200 games, nevermind all the ones they've lost as well. That's weeks worth of gaming time, and the game isn't even that old! Sad, spotty, virgins come to mind.
Anyway, those who have played it will have noticed many games ask for people not to rush, and to not use superweapons (each army gets one superweapon, for example a nuke) or to only use it once. And it is my discovery that everybody who has a good score has it because they break these rules. I've played about 5 games over the past two days (compared to the dozens these sad people play) and I've managed to lose every single one! Why? Because I get rushed by a group of rocket soldiers before I've even finished building my barracks. Or they each have at least three superweapons each, meaning your base is constantly getting hammered by 9 superweapons every four minutes! You can't build one yourself because it'll get destroyed as soon as you start it. No amount of requests for them to stop cheating will get them to play fairly. And you know the worst thing? It's usually THEM who ask for no rush and no superweapons!
"No SWs! No rush!"
"So why are you rushing me, and why do you have two nuclear silos?"
*silence*
Everybody is at it, but I seem to be unlucky enough to ALWAYS be on the opposing team of the cheaters. They whinge for everybody to agree to no rushing and no superweapons, then the first thing they do is run into your base. Everybody says "No rush" and they don't answer. Like in Counter Strike with campers, I refuse to lower myself to their standards. Just like I won't camp, I won't build superweapons when people agreed we shouldn't, and I won't send my migs in five minutes into the game to wipe out their bases. I'm all for rushing, I think it's a good (but highly annoying) tactic. But only when that's what people want to do. If everyone specifically asks for no rushing, then people do it anyway, that just sucks.
C&C Generals NEEDS sorting out. Everytime I lose it's because of people exploiting my good nature in that I don't rush their bases, and everytime I'm winning, there just happens to be a mismatch. So I get a disconnect added to my stats instead of a victory. I'm just so SICK of these American nerds. I know fine well I could knock them out, and it's really frustrating having to put up with their abuse just because they're on the other side of the world, hiding in their parent's basement.
OK, rant over. I'm sick of playing nerdy Americans, we should arrange a game with other SR people, at least then people wouldn't cheat.
There are loads of cheaters - those who use a program like C&C edit to change the way the game works on their computer.
For example, a tank called the President IFV can only be built in a certain solo-play level as you can build IFVs, but not Presidents to put in them - however, the number of people I've seen using President IFVs is a considerably high amount.
Why do people even bother to play if they're going to cheat to win all the time? It's boring as hell cheating to win!
Anyway, I team up with my brother half way through matches now - get the cheaters back at their own game.

yeah thats what I thought. i love the C&C series with a passion, and can't wait to play generals. unfortunately i can't afford to update my lowly PC at the mo', so will have to wait.
I don't know much about 3D cards, but I'm sure yours is pretty good. However, I wouldn't even dream of running Generals back on my old 700. I've got 2gig and it runs OK, but only on terrible graphics. I desperatly need a new video card...

Should do.
GTA3 works on mine, that game should work, shouldn't it?
Kids in America seem to have this obsession with cheating and just being complete twits. In fact, kids here do it too.
The Yahoo chat rooms were full of kids with their booter programs. They'd threaten people and if they wouldn't do anything they'd use their little program to send a malicious code via IM that will crash the messenger.
It makes them feel big.
Same thing with online games. People use cheats because winning gives them that feeling of control. Playing Goldeneye with invincibility was good fun, just standing there getting shot and going around killing everyone. Imagine playing that against real people without them being able to beat you? Imagine winning every game.
Quake 3 has the problems too, people use AimBots which shoot for them whenever a player get's in their sight. It requires less effort, you can always win and it gives you that feeling of superiorority. (!?!)
You're gonna get it on every game. People mesing about ruins the fun for everyone.
