No. Its still very good quality, just Grohls songwriting has fallen away, meaning One By One isn't as powerful or as impressive as Colour & The Shape, or even Nothing Left To Lose. Theres nothing like Learn To Fly, Everlong, My Hero or MW to get you going.
Still quality band.
Rival Schools are new-ish. They kick every other new bands butt.
Quality band. SPs, Foos, Chillis, Muse, ATDI, Rival Schools, Everclear and some good old fashioned Perfect Circle/Silverhchair for me.
Currently my favourite band, too. :)
I dunno about the 'Chilli Peppers anymore, though...
Yes, they've been a decent band for quite-some-time, now, and you could still call them a great band, today. But with their new album, and some of the singles that have come from it, I can't help but feel they have begun to see the light in selling to the pop-fans, and how much money and appeal it can bring to the band, as their inevitable 'end' draws-near.
I'm not trying to say their new stuff is crap - just that it is a lot different to some of the classic stuff they used to do.
I particular like Finch.
Red Hot Chili Peppers and Incubus being other examples.
"What about metallica or pantera?"
No, I'm talking about NEW bands, in music TODAY.
You're going back 2-years-or-so, "man"!
The only new bands we get today are complete loads of crap, looking to make money from the industry and become well-know, worldwide.
They get their managers and people to do all the work for them.
Unlike bands (like SoaD or QotSA), they all sound the same, and aren't interested one-bit in making GOOD music that shares their true thoughts and feelings on the world and Life, today.
They all either sound like New Found Glory, or some kind of miserable teenagers who can't get over the fact that life sucks, and sing about wanting to kill themselves, or others -- just like Eminem, really!
