Instead of us just having a site, why don't we set up a web design company? There are enough of us here to do it, we could make it official with SR so they have another service to offer with their domains, and we would make a few quid out of it.

Between us we have the skills to pull it off, we can use the forums to chat about business, it would be great!

I would have thought you'd make a website between you first, maybe just as an example, then you can find a sponser, e.g. Freeola or SR, then go from there, I can't wait until you've got this up and running :D

It could be done 2 ways....

We set up a site, and SR can adopt it to their freeola pages as their on-site design company. They handle all the accounts, and get the money, and for us working on it we get some games each or something.

Jobs would be allocated in order of availability, we can give people who are new to design the jobs to start, then the pros can take over, so skills are learned by all.

OR....

We set up a company between us, run our own site from freeola (I'm sure we could get advertising from SR if we offer our services at a discount to them), and run it ourselves. We elect people for the positions, and split the work accordingly, depending on what the site needs.

Plent of skills here and probably lots of people willing to join in but...

1)Who will decide who does what?
2)Who will define the company structure?
3)Who will define the business strategy?
4)Tools?
5)Who charges what?
6)Accounts?
7)QA & Project Management?
8)Client base? (Bluechip, Mainstream or Startup or even personal?)

As well as what I do now, I also freelance in this field and have seen how difficult it is to set up something like this. Who would discuss the clients needs with the client?, How will you promote the company? What about support and Infrastructure etc etc...

I've been thinking for sometime about setting up my own firm but have yet to find a selling point and a neiche in the market. I already have a working model for staff etc but have yet to define my market and what part of it I am aiming for!

Your basic firm would only need to consist of:

-Designer/Producer
-Developer
-Manager
-Consultant

Tell me more. Am definately interested in something like this, especially if it makes money!!
