I remember the first football match I ever saw. Charlton vs Southend, in the days when the west stand was smaller than the North stand and Chris Powell still played for southend . There must have been a crowd of 6,000 and i've held a season ticket ever since. I've seen the ground expand, great players come and go, and geat young talent come up through the side, like Rob Lee, Lee Bowyer, Jamie Stuart or more recently Paul Konchesky and Scott Parker. Beating Sundeland at Wembley to get promoted in the play-offs which was then voted in the top 5 football matches ever played, the disapointment of being relagated after we worked so hard, and the joy of winning the 1st Division. Then came the best season in the history of Charlton Athletic. We missed out on a Europeon cup place by one place in the league and are now just three games away from winning the Worthington Cup, plus we have great strikers which produce extreamly well in every match. The home ground The Valley is now known in the football industry as Fortress Valley, and have one of the best youth academies in europe that big name clubs are envious of.

What I'm trying to get at is that Charlton have everything going for them at the moment. In one season in the premiership they almost got into the UEFA cup, and reached the semi-finals of the worthington cup. Most prmieship sides never do that. If things stay on the same course as they currently are, hopefully Charlton wil be regulars in the UEFA cup and be a tough oppisition for any team.
