Selected the part of the message that applied. One sentence is enough to give an idea of what you're replying to, quoting the whole thing is unnecessary.
There's no reason why you or Col couldn't have said something like "The companies might be evil wrongdoers, but at least the food tastes great."
Maybe not exactly like that, but you get the point.
