Just recieved a PS2 console pack (GT3 Fire Pack) and the blurb on the web site states it includes a scart lead.

None to be found in the package.

Can anyone else who bought this pack tell me if they recieved a scart lead with theirs?

Thanks,

Dave

Just had a conversation with the mail order dept on the phone.

Me - "Hi, I received my order and it was incomplete"

Rep- "What was missing"

Me - "A Scart lead"

Rep - "So you ordered a PS2 then?"

Me - "Yes"

Rep - "We will see if we csn get you one sent out asap without you having to return the whole package as an incomplete order. What is your membership number...."

He then asked for my details so I guess I am not the first to have this missing from the pack since he latched onto the problem before he knew anything about the order reference or who I was.

Depends what you call a normal scart? A fully wired scart (all 21 pins connected) supports composite video, s-video and RGB (that is also the order of quality). The adapter just converts the composite RCA (phono - red, white & yellow) to a scart plug and thus you are getting the lowest quality. The reason people get confused is that scart is sold at being a better connnection method for video recorders to TV (which it is because this avoids the video having to de-modulate the TV signal and then re-modulate it again to send it on to the TV can de-modulate). Any scart in this case passes the de-modulated signal directly to the TV.

Hope this helps,

.Richard

What is the quality of the composite cable like compared to a normal scart cable?

I take it a RGB scart cable beats both of these?

Unless the pack has changed, PS2 does not come with a SCART lead - it comes with a composite lead (thre phono plugs - red, white and yellow) and a SCART adapter block.

Using the SCART adapter does not make it a SCART lead - the image is still a composite image.
