sorry if this has been done before but ah well. what do you think has been some of the most underated games on any console. i could go on for ever but i'll just concentrate on Smash Court Tennis and Everybody's Golf. These were 2 great sport games but cause they didn't have a picture of anna kournikova or tiger woods on the cover hardly got any interest at all despite them being so good. is this all people are after when buying games unless it's got a big name promoting it or a ton of licences no ones going to pay any attention? doing that will mean you could miss some absolute gems of games such as smash court tennis which eventually got the code stopped being made for it and i think i must be about 1 of a few hundred people to actually own this great game but it's everyone else's losses. i don't even like tennis but this game was so addictive.
But when Smash court tennis 2 came out under the guise of anna kournikovas smash court tennis this sold loads even with it being sort of the same game with many of the characters being kept from the original. all it had was the extra bomb blast mode yet it sold alot more than it's original why? because it had the lovely anna kournikova on the cover of course. why are many of us like this why do we need a game to have a big name promoter before we even look twice at it. we should be looking for good quality gameplay not how many leagues and real player names a football games got or how many big name wrestlers a wrestling game has got we should be looking at how good a game is gameplay and graphic wise.

I too have Smash Court tennis, i think it did not sell because it was rather cartoony but it was so much fun. Its a shame this happens to games when they are good but dont get recognised. This happened to the Evo 1 game, excellent but did not sell enough to really reward it for how good it is.
This is coming a thing of the past now though, magazines tell us that games are good as do web sites such as SR.Also with all the adverts and stuff games do get recognised.

Its such a shame that some games are underrated, when they deserve much better scores, sometimes the case is that they are rated highly but do not sell well, one of the games i thought was underrated was actua soccer 2 on the ps, i waited so long for that game , the mags rated it highly, but it somehow didn't stand out, and i still think its a good game for the odd kickabout on, unfortunately it happens and we can't stop it, we all like different games so if you play a game and like it even though it may have only received 60% then thats ok, one game i think that was underrated was XG3, i think PSM2 were a bit harsh with the review, caomparing it to wipeout fusion was a bit unfair, its a good game and deserved more imo, as many of you will agree.
