Games such as Doom, Quake, Unreal and Soldier Of Fortune have always sold well. Its always fun to frag your mates and people online, as well as playing the 1 player modes.
Recently we've seen games appear (usually dancing style games) that use touch sensative mats. With this technology appearing more and more, surely a combination of a mat and light gun could make a great FPS !

The mat would have an arrow or area each side of you, 1 in front of you to go foward, 1 behind to back up, and one each side to turn direction. Plus next to the the left and right areas could be another area to strafe left and right. As for crouching, there could be a button on the gun that can be pressed and released for crouching.
Gun selections could also be made on the gun as you pick them up. It'd be nicer to use your own aim rather than running a mouse up and down a mat or moving your analogue around to get onto an enemy. Clan style games over online capabilities could be an excellent experience and anyone wanting to be a Sniper style player really can do so much better cause when a player sees an enemy run accross their screen, it will go down to their aim and reflexes instead of quickly trying to run their mouse controlled cross hair over the sprinting opponent.

Maybe another button could be added to the gun for secondary actions on weapons in games. Imagine a game where you walking around in dark places a lot, you could have a light style attachment to the gun that can be activated by pressing the secondary button. Plus it'll be handy for any weapon that might have a grenade launcher style attachment or similar.

Overall I think a game like this could really sell well, especially with a very popular genre such as the FPS.
The games i mentioned would be great to play in this way along with other games that are popular - an Aliens licence could become a very unique experience. Games such as Time Crisis could even use it, similar style game but with much more freedom for the player to use. House Of The Dead could also be good, not to mention a new Resident Evil survivor style game where you can go around zombie infested streets and buildings. Instead of controlling a character on the screen, you could be the one picking up items, shooting the zombies and pushing objects around in puzzles.

Maybe I should put it forward as a fitness machine for games addicts ;-))

Or maybe I should just stop coming up with smelly games ideas ;-))

Have you played that arcade game that is sort of like that?, but instead of a mat you have sensors above you head, you also have a light gun so you can say hide behind a car door, move to the left and the view changes acording to how fast you move, a very cool game!!

I think that instead of "Turn left" buttons, there should be a sort of turn table which twists the view as you spin it (the other buttons will be on the turn table).

Ofcourse, the screen would have to move with the turn table which might make things a little awkward...
