MGS comes close, but in the end you are just working through stealth sections and bosses to FMV you cant control. Snake is the hero not you.
In final fantasy 7 i always felt like i was being forced into things i didnt want to do. Like in disc two when cloud (your character) gets injured and you have to play as a tifa. It totally changes the feel of the game, and it is ultra annoying losing you best character!
I just wish that in a game you could be in complete control and do what you wanted to. In MGS i would have taken that shot, screw ninja (grey fox)!
I like playing all these 'movie games' but i still want freedom now and then.
