I clearly remember when Grand Theft Auto was first released and how it featured on many news programs. I also remember certain members of the Police trying to get the reviews of the game pulled off the shelves.
Is it really that bad?
Does video gaming make people more aggressive is it bad for you?
Over the past few years the gaming industry has made significant improvments to graphics making them more realistic this has made the violence in games appear more real and is it bad? Not only that but gaming has become part of popular culture and many more people play games now than they did 5 or 6 years ago. This highlights it more to the media.
About 6 months ago a plane had to make an emergency landing after a crazed man tried to highjack the plane and do some stunts in it because he had seen it on MS Fligh Simulator.
There was also the case of a man in the UK who tried to steal a Police helicopter to fly it like he saw in Flight Simulator.
In the next few years the games industry could be looking at lots of lawsuits against them.
Should we worry about games being violent. To many people we see games as just fun. We may have fun running over people but would we really do it?
My personal opinion is that games are not real they are simply fun. something i do when i've had a busy day a relax and play it, as i know that all the things I see are not real and do not bother me but if i was to really see it in the real world then i would be upset.
What are your opinions?
I use video games as a way of relaxing and having fun, not forgetting the fealing of escaping myself and doing something that is out of this world, i.e. Resi CV, GTA3.
To me theres no reason to stop games being made more realistic, and if that includes them becoming more violent then so be it... Lifes a bi%$h anyway...
