I've owned both these consoles and here are my opinions. I owned the PSX for about 6 months because I just didn't find any of the games interesting (with exception of the FF series). I've owned an N64 for four years know, and despite having a DC I play on the N64 more. Games are not about fancy FMV, they are about playability and enjoyment. I've been playing nintendo games from the days of the FAMICOM - NES in the U.k. I've tried other fotmats but you just don't get that gameplay that you only find in Nintendo games. Only Sega have come close to matching Nin, but even they are behind. Sony have done a good job of making game playing "COOL" but they have also bought down the quality of games. They seem to think that FMV's sell the game. Have you seen many Sony Adverts that don't show the FMV sequence. I can't believe that I'm the only one who doesn't fall for their cheap marketing trick. In response to one of the messages in the forum RE: Nintendo designing the playstation, thats all true, but the actual components are from Sony, which is why you find that a PSX will break down after a few years, and a Nintendo machine will go on and on. My SNES still works!!. Nintendo is all about quality and that means hardware and software. You can bet the Dolphin is going to follow that trend. So Sony fans I've got no gripes against you, aslong as nintendo keep producing the goods (which they will). Sooner or later you will find that you ARE playing average games, and with the introduction DVD on the Dolphin those fancy FMV sequences will be all be possible, not that they aren't on the N64 (you need storage memory for FMV, not a good machine). One more question to the stuburn Sony fans out there. Did any of you get a chance to see the top 100 in edge and C&VG mags. You'll find that the experts also agree that Ninty DO make the best games. I can't remember seeing a SONY made game in the top 100. The only PSX representatives were MGS and gran turismo. This proves to all you MGS fans that Goldeneye is indeed better that MGS, and if you don't believe me try it out. In both mags, Goldeneye, Zelda, Mario 64 were shared between the top 3 and thats eveb before DK64, PD had come out. So there you go, case closed i'm afraid, it's official that Ninty are the best games producers in the world. I just can't wait to see what they will be doing with the Dolphin.
Starcube isn't going to be the new name of Dolphin, apparantly the latest I've heard is that it will be the name of the interface which connects the GBA with the dolphin. Replies welcome.

I totally agree with you about the Nintendo/Sony debate. Nintendo have always made great games. When Sony came out with the PS, it was easy and cheap to develop for, and so, profitable for games comapnies. Compare this to the N64, which was late, expensive for all involved, so lacked a wide range of games. To date, Smash Brothers is the best the N64 can offer as a beat-em-up (one of my favourite genres) and no real RPGs, unless you consider Zelda as one. But I stuck by Nintendo, and chose the N64 over PS, even though I can get loads of pirated games for PS, unlike the N64. Because I knew for certain that more classic games would come out on the N64. However, I think it's great that Sony has really commercialised the gaming, but it has come at a great cost, in terms of game quality. With Dolphin (it had better not be Starcube) using DVDs of some sort, it will mean less restrictions for programmers, so in theory, more diverse games will be made. Thus, Sony will have lost its only real advantage over Nintendo. And if all goes well, Nintendo may regain the top spot it so richly deserves.

I completely agree with you. Nintendo has the most experience(of the
existing companies)with making video games and have only had one
system that's failed(the Virtual Boy-which, in my opinion, shouldn't
have failed). Best of all Sony doesn't have RARE, which is the best
gaming company on this planet(NONE of their games have "failed").
A lot of idiots over here in america have jumped on the PS2 bandwagon
but no one in the UK is going to fall for that. I have a brother
who is in the US Navy that came over to the UK and he has heard that
the PS2 wasn't exactly everyone's favorite to be the best system.
The Dolphin will have hardly any competition(forget the "X-Box"-that's
an American-made system. Enough said) and the people who have "sold
themselves to sony" will relize that they put too much faith into a
company who has only made one system prior to PS2.

Vegeeta P.S.-Is it true that RARE is working on the sequel to
Perfect Dark registered as "After Dark"?

Nintendo are the best and will reamin the best for a long time, coz as far as i can see, nobody has a console that will beat the dolphin. the psx is second best to the dolphin and the dreamcast.....well let's not go there, and the X-box, well, what about it, does any1 no anythin about it. NO!!!! so how is Nintndo gonna be kicked of top spot with the qualities like perfect dark being produced???and wot have sega got !!!SONIC, wow and sony,, LARA, how boring is that geting now???????
So i come to the end, all i have left to say is this.....Nintendo will be and are the best, so there.
