I jump up survey the damage and move on to the next area. Nothing has been more satisfying.
Then the fun is over. The game has finished, every mod has been played to death and after endless replays of my favourite levels Max Payne is finished with.
I survey the room needing something to satisfy my gun lusting requirements. I'm addicting to shooting things! And I can't explain why! I just find it satisfying to shoot a few bullets into something.
I pull out Deus Ex and play around however there is just not enough ammo! I'm not a person who can do this thing we call stealth! When I have a gun it's rampage time! I need all the firepower I can carry and all I want to do is fire shot after shot killing everyone who gets in my way.
Nothing seems to do.
Then buy chance when searching on a CD I find a shareware game - Castle Wolfenstein. And straight away I have to load it up! It's copied on to my computer in seconds and I'm playing it.
I've tried to forget about the upcoming Wolfenstein game coming at the end of November but I had to unforget and play it and now I'm on the keyboard of my computer tapping away finding everything I can about the Wolfenstein sequel. I'm hungry for the guns, the shooting of people and the multiplayer. Yet it's release date seems so distant.
I haven't felt this since Perfect Dark was at my home and I was at school waiting for the day to finish.
I love the FPS there is no denying it. And I hate it when I have to wait for games.
Castle Wolfenstein shareware, as primitive as it was, it has given me a burst of painkillers to ease the pain of the release of it's sequel. With it's nice guns, chicken dinners to sort out your health and cartoony Nazi soldiers everywhere waiting to be shot it was still on mighty good game.
It truly is despite it's age. If it was a person it would be in retirement but it doesn't matter. Firing my way through doors and through levels I was having lots and lots of fun. However to my annoyance I found myself shooting a pot plant for several seconds thinking it was a soldier (damn those graphics).
The end of November signals rampage time once more. I've got the date in my calender and my trenchcoat, my wallet and cool shades at hand.
I need this game.
