David Beckham's a football player. You might just have heard of him? Of course you have, he's England's hero! Remember, he scored that vital free-kick in the dying moments of the world cup qualifier against Greece. This resulted in England automatically being put through to the World Cup, woohoooo!

David Beckham's career started way back when he was just a little kid. He appeared on a TV programme showing the nation his unpresidented skill, with kick-ups, which at his age was very hard to do. So already people could see that he was something special in terms of a footballer. He played along with certain friends in a fantastic team and every competition they entered with Beckham involved, they won. He first kicked a ball at Old Trafford at the age of 11 - in a taste of what was ahead, he had just won the TSB Bobby Charlton Skills Championship. Beckham's career has been on the up since that moment.

It wasn't long when he was finally picked up by the team of his dreams, Manchester United at the age of 14. They recognised his certain talents on the pitch and of course they knew he would be a star. Most great footballers play for Man.U as everyone knows. Now Beckham was in the spotlight it was another bigger chance to show the nation what he could do. This was when everyone saw he was a fantastic free-kick taker. We all saw a free-kick style like no other, which had (what was then thought) of as an impossible curve. You'll see the ball go one way then instantly change direction! Unique!
The whole of England knew that he was fit to play for England in which he did. Named Man of the Match for a superb England performance v Belgium in May 1996, he made his mark in both domestic and international football. Everyone looked at David Beckham as England's hero until that uneccessary kick to the back of the leg on the Argentine defender. He was then sent off rightly and England lost that match. The blame was put on Beckham. From this moment on he was no longer England's hero, but a shamble. The next matches he played for his club he received many 'BOOOS' and hisses never heard before.

Life was a wreck for this popular footy star, but he still carried on strong doing his job as a footballer. He finally won the nation's heart when they saw his football on the pitch just kept getting better and better. He scored more and more fantastic free-kicks to the delight of fans and is still doing so today.
There are always ups and downs in football, but Beckham faced the worst. He redeemed himself brilliantly by not letting anyone get him down and carrying on doing what he does best. That is why today he is seen as one of the best footballers in the world. Finally, Beckham found love in the ever popular Posh Spice. This made them the richest celeb couple. They now have a son, Brooklyn, and already scouts are looking at him at the age of 2. They say he has football in the blood. I wonder who he'll play for?

Now because of his huge popularity Rage are creating a football game called David Beckham Soccer for the PSone and later for PS2 . This is promising to be a great title and footy sim and at least it stands a chance against the competition. Even the ever bossy Victoria Beckham has been included in training mode where England's skipper gives you hints on how to improve your play. This looks to be a great title and a real contender to ISS.

David Beckham is probably the best football player since the likes of George Best or Bobby Charlton. He's now seen today as England's hero and THE best free-kick taker. Most matches he plays he's always involved with the goals scored. With spectacular long balls, shots and free-kicks, Beckham is undoubtedly one of the best footballers in the world. What do you think?

I think he gets paid far too much to play a kids game for a living, and his missus gets far too much money for her lack of singing ability.

They are both overpaid, brainless imps. I really feel sorry for their child.
